We have been in touch with the Streets Department about the status of the Race Street gate repair regularly since it was closed in mid-September.
They are working to hire a contractor to conduct the repair.
Unfortunately, there is no way to know when the gate is likely to reopen. Below is a message sent on Friday, October 11th by Keisha McCarty-Skelton of the Streets Department to the President of Logan Square Neighborhood Association.
Thank you for contacting the Philadelphia Department of Streets. We do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. At this time we are unable to provide a timeframe for which the gates will reopen. For safety reasons, the gates will remain closed until the replacement part is received and the repairs are completed. We are in contact with the vendor who makes the part and will issue a new press release when a repair date is known.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as soon as we know them.
