Better Bike Share Partnership
The Better Bike Share Partnership is a collaboration funded by the JPB Foundation to build equitable and replicable bike share systems. The partners include The City of Philadelphia, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) and the PeopleForBikes Foundation.
The City of Philadelphia launched its bike share system in April 2015
Est. 2015
This grant funded bike share stations in historically disinvested-from communities. The Bicycle Coalition, as part of the Better Bike Share Partnership, works to engage folks in Indego’s service area through free education rides and classes. NACTO’s role is to collect and disseminate best practices on bike share, including equity strategies. PeopleForBikes will administer $900,000 in grant funding over three years to partnerships of bike share operators, cities and local nonprofits to help U.S. cities develop and implement strategies to increase bike share use in their own underserved communities.
PeopleForBikes is also managing a storytelling effort to better communicate the approaches, successes and challenges of the grantees through blogs, articles, images and videos.
