The Bicycle Coalition was so excited to partner with Indego, The Better Bike Share Partnership, and Bartram’s Garden to present Indego Bike Fun Day at Bartram’s Garden on Sunday, August 27th. Indego Ambassadors joined the Bicycle Coalition and additional partners to offer free biking and wellness-related resources as well as free group rides to try out Indego bikes and enjoy Bartram’s Garden.
The Bartram’s Garden Bike Hub offered a small traffic garden and free rentals for kids bikes to ride along the bike path at Bartram’s Garden trail. Over 25 people rented bikes from the Bartram’s Garden Bike Hub and over 30 participants joined the group rides using Indego E-Bikes. We were joined by the East Coast Greenway Alliance (ECGA), Indego, Complete Street (OTIS), Vision Zero PHL (OTIS), Carter’s Watermelon, Get Fresh Daily, Indego Ambassadors – We Embrace Fatherhood (WEFPHL), Indigenous Education (INDEDU), and Nicole Seahorn from Fairmount Park Conservancy. Collectively, we provided free bicycle helmets and resources, fruits from local gardens, information about trails, and a bicycle raffle at the end of the event.
Indego Day highlighted the Indego Station at the entrance of Bartram’s Garden and demonstrated how easy and convenient it is to ride Indego. The BCGP Education team hosted four group rides throughout the day that guided participants along the 2.2-mile Bartram’s Trail. We visited the multiple overviews of the city skyline from the southernmost point of the trail and even spotted a bald eagle during our ride… “Go Birds”. If folks didn’t want to bike, they also had the option of hiking the oldest botanical garden’s trails and green spaces. Participants also had the option of joining the hula-hooping workshop provided everyone with classic 90’s house music to get the body moving. Overall, this was a fantastic event that showcased all of the impact we collectively have on the communities that we serve in Philadelphia.
This was the second annual Indego Bartram’s Garden Bike Fun Day. We are grateful to our community partners who brought snacks, resources, and energy to make it a fantastic, family-friendly day.
