Chester County recently announced that it has awarded a construction contract for a major project on its segments of the Schuylkill River Trail. The project will fully pave about 6 miles of existing crushed stone trail, as well as build four new miles of trail. The construction schedule is pending but will begin this year and be completed in 2021.

When complete, it will be possible to ride from Center City Philadelphia to Birdsboro in Berks County on almost entirely contiguous trail.
