Fall is here, and it’s time to dig out your flannel, order a pumpkin spice latte, and go apple & pumpkin picking. The cooler autumn weather provides the perfect conditions to go for a bike ride. And with orchards and farms along the Circuit Trails network, it’s easy to combine our two favorite autumn activities. Here are our recommendations for spots to pick-your-own apples and pumpkins, and suggested Circuit Trails nearby to ride.

Linvilla Orchards (137 W Knowlton Rd, Media, PA 19063, Delaware County)

Just off the Chester Creek Trail and the connecting Linvill Trail (a variable surface trail along the edge of farmland), Linvilla Orchards is the ultimate fall destination. In addition to pick-your-own fun, Linvilla offers attractions including hayrides, a corn maze, pony rides, and a barnyard of animals to visit.

Indian Orchards Farm (29 Copes Lane, Media PA 19063, Delaware County)

Also off the Linvill Trail, Indian Orchards Farm offers pick-your-own fruit that is organically-grown, non-GMO and pesticide-free.

Terhune Orchards (330 Cold Soil Rd, Princeton, NJ 08540, Mercer County)

One mile from the Lawrence Hopewell Trail, Terhune Orchards offers pick-your-own, as well as farm festivals, barnyard fun, and a winery. We’re partial to the baked goods offered in their farm store, including classic apple cider donuts.

Solebury Orchards (3325 Creamery Rd, New Hope, PA 18938, Bucks County)

Solebury Orchards is just two miles from the D&L Trail. The picturesque country setting offers the ideal apple picking experience.

If you’re hesitant about venturing out on your own but want to indulge in the ultimate fall bike experience, consider buying a ticket for Bikeout: New Hope. Riders will stop at Solebury for lunch and have the chance to pick apples there!

Strawberry Hill Farm (3 Waln Rd, Chesterfield, NJ 08515, Burlington County)

Five miles from the Bordentown RiverLINE station and the Delaware River Heritage Trail, Strawberry Hill Farm is currently picking Red Delicious, Stayman Winesap, Fuji, and Rome apples.

Taylor River Side Farm (5 Taylors Ln, Cinnaminson, NJ 08077, Burlington County)

1.5 miles from the Cinnaminson RiverLINE Station and 3 miles from the Tacony Palmyra Bridge, Taylors Farm offers u-pick produce. While there, you can also walk the trails of the Taylor Wildlife Preserve and go birding.

Snipes Farm and Education Center (890 W. Bridge Street, Morrisville, Pennsylvania 19067, Bucks County)

One mile from the D&L Trail, this Farm’s mission is to model and teach sustainable farming, while building community and reconnecting people to the land. At Snipes Farm Fall Weekends, you can visit the farm museum, go on a hayride and visit the pumpkin patch, and check out their barnyard animals. The main attraction for bike riders needing to refuel, though, is fresh-pressed apple cider, pies, candy and caramel apples, and apple cider doughnuts.

Varner Farms (746 S Trappe Rd, Collegeville, PA 19426, Montgomery County)

Close to the Perkiomen Trail, Varner Farms offers pick-your-own pumpkins. There’s also a corn maze, horse-drawn wagon & tractor-drawn rides, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making and face painting.

Springdale Farms (1638 South Springdale Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ, 08003, Camden County)

If you take the Cooper River Trail to the Kresson Rd bike lanes, you’ll reach Springdale Farms, which has produce, a bakery, pumpkin picking, hayrides, and a corn maze.
