After being contacted by several bike shop owners, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia staff inquired of the Philadelphia Department of Health for clarity about whether or not bike shop employees would be considered part of the transportation “priority group” and be eligible to get vaccines during the Phase 1C period.
PDPH staff got back to us and indeed, that is the case. We informed bike shop owners via a late afternoon email on Friday, January 22 that they should let their staff know to register at the City’s website: https://covid-vaccine-interest.phila.gov/
Philadelphia is currently in Phase 1B. Although no one knows when Philadelphia’s Phase 1C will open up, it’s reassuring to know that bike shop employees will be able to their vaccines during that time.
We’re working to find out if the same policy will be implemented by the Commonwealth of PA and the State of New Jersey for bike shop workers outside of Philadelphia. Stay tuned.
