Philadelphia’s young and creative playwright community has tackled the issue of failing bicycle shops in a humorous new Philadelphia play, Sh*theads.
The play, put on by Azuka Theatre in partnership with Fairmount Bicycles, was written by Playwright-In-Residence at Azuka Douglass Williams and directed by Kevin Glaccum. The story of the play focuses on Bert’s Bikes and Sports, a struggling bike shop in Lower Manhattan.
Among the shop’s problems include a lack of customers and inexperienced employees, problems of which land in the lap of new manager, Alex, who must quickly develop a plan to bring the shop back from the dead.
A 90 minute show, the play will run February 22-March 12 at the Proscenium Theater at The Drake, located at 302 S. Hicks St. in Center City.
Tickets for the production are name your own price, and viewers can attend a mini Flat Fix Tutorial provided by Fairmount Bikes after the March 5th Sunday matinee show.
