It was a hot and sticky July afternoon, but it was cool in Di Bruno’s where Keyleigh Kern was on the shopping spree she won through the Women Bike PHL raffle.

Earlier this year, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia held a fundraiser for our Women Bike PHL intern. Through your generosity, the Coalition managed to put together enough money to fund the internship — and donating to the BCGP wasn’t without its perks.

Thanks to the generosity of Di Bruno Bros, any donation of $10 or more included a chance to win a $125 gift certificate and a one hour private shopping experience at the Rittenhouse Square location with ‘the godfather of the cheese cave,’ and third generation owner at Di Bruno Brothers Emilio Mignucci.

Late last week, the tour happened — and it was sure tasty.

Kayleigh was given a private tour through Di Bruno’s by the owner, Emilio, who told Kaleigh all about Di Bruno’s history, their products and numerous anecdotes about Italy and how he chose the products.

Kayleigh said her favorite part was when “Emilio gave a tasting of the “greatest hits” of the cheese cave, which included some amazing cheeses paired with equally amazing flavors like pistachio and aged balsamic vinegar.”

On what she learned and what she spent her $125 gift card on, Kayleigh said, “I learned that cheeses are very seasonal, and have different flavors and pairings depending on the time of year, so I bought a mix of cheeses, nuts, and fruits that were perfect for summer.”

Thank you Di Bruno’s and thank you to everyone who donated to the Women Bike PHL campaign!
