The final Wissahickon Gateway meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 23, at 6:30pm. All are welcome to attend to hear about the 12-month study on the project, which covers the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Main Street in Manayunk.
The project, once completed, will help cyclists navigate themselves from the Kelly Drive path into Manayunk with less awkwardness and less time riding on the street.
Currently, people who use the Schuylkill River Trail and Kelly Drive for commuting or recreation run into an awkward spot between where Kelly Drive ends and the Manayunk Towpath begins.
The awkwardness means either riding on the sidewalk for a short period (this is actually largely inevitable), or waiting at the crosswalk on Ridge Avenue, then taking a lane of traffic to get onto Main Street Manayunk before turning onto the Towpath.
On Wednesday, those at the meeting will hear about the final development plans for the Wissahickon Gateway project.
