Pennsy Trail Extension (Newtown Square Branch) – 0.37 miles
The Pennsy Trail’s southern extension over Manoa Road and down (almost) to West Chester Pike officially opened at a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 7th to celebrate the segment and bridge crossing. The recently completed bridge now connects 1.12 miles of the Pennsy Trail in Havertown!
Darby Creek Trail – 0.1 miles
Additionally, a 0.10 mile segment of the Darby Creek Trail within Jack McDonald Memorial Field, along Burmont Road headed northward from Warrior Road was completed in 2024.
Fox Chase – Lorimer Trail – 0.63 miles
The Fox Chase – Lorimer project included construction of a half-mile of multi-use trail along the former SEPTA Fox Chase Rail Line’s Newtown Branch. The trail serves as an off-road connection for cyclists and pedestrians to access the Pennypack Trail, which spans from Lorimer Park to Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust in Montgomery County to Pennypack Creek on the Delaware River in Philadelphia totaling in over 20 miles of seamless connected Circuit Trails.
Pennypack Trail – State and Rhawn/Pennypack Trail Connector – 0.07 miles
This new segment creates a seamless 10.3 mile connection from the Delaware River in Philadelphia to Bucks County. The new segment links the Pennypack Path to the Pennypack Trail at State Road and Rhawn Street.
“While the distances may be small, the Fox Chase Lorimer Trail and Pennypack Path Connector were both much needed connections that fill in missing gaps in the much larger Circuit Network. We continue to strive toward Mayor Parker’s vision of a safer, cleaner, and greener Philadelphia through projects that make our transportation network safer and accommodating of all users.” – Kristin Del Rossi, Commissioner, Department of Streets
