Kayuh Bicycles and Cafe opened in 2012 on 19th and Girard Avenue as both an affordable cafe and bike shop that provides full service repair and sells refurbished bicycles.
The bike shop includes discounts for Coalition members and group rides around the city, and is currently holding a series of free repair clinics through April 12th.
The clinic has three dates, the next two of which are March 22nd and April 12th, where cyclists can learn, socialize, and pick up a new skill in bike mechanics. Experienced mechanists will be running each clinic to supervise attendees, and tools and bike stands are provided.
Kayuh puts an emphasis on community by hosting a speaker series throughout the year that highlights prominent cyclists and advocates in Philadelphia. Future speakers include Stephanie Ford, creator of the Coalition member bicycle club Pedal Posse Divas, and Sarah Clark Stuart, executive director of the Coalition.
Kayuh Bicycles also has the unique ability to offer cyclists a break from biking with breakfast foods, sandwiches and coffee at their attached café, the menu for which can be found here.
