After nearly 20 years of our Research Director John Boyle’s tireless advocacy with the Delaware River Port Authority, DRPA is nearing completion of a ramp on the bridge’s southern walkway. This will provide seamless active transportation connectivity to one of the few bike/ped friendly crossings of the Delaware River.

John worked tirelessly at this over the years on behalf of the Bicycle Coalition, including attending at least 50 meetings of the DRPA Citizens Advisory Committee, and his work has paid off!

The ramp will open in spring/summer of this year, at which point it will become a game changer for connectivity between New Jersey and PA. The current connection on the north walkway leaves much to be desired, as you can see from the pic below.
