At approximately 9:00am on April 23, Cadence Youth Cycling, a youth cycling program of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, had their first Time Trial of the 2016 season.
Site teams from all over Philadelphia had been planning for the event weeks in advance — but nature had a different plan.
Cold rain and mud stained the course while clouds shield every potential of warmth. Yet, the sound of laughter and clips echoed throughout the Belmont Plateau. Even with the change of events things still, in a way, went as planned.
The course this year was completely different from the one last year. It was longer, had more twists and turns, and there was just more scenery to look at in general. Also, each rider only had to do one lap because of its length. I think this course will be better for the team.
Post race youth decided to get away from the rain by huddling under a tint.

Even Though it was raining, Cadence athletes were still able to participate in and complete their races. However, when the races finished at about 9:30 am, the rain started to pick up. We decided to wrap up early; the athletes were sent home. All in all it was a great day that wasn’t completely ruined by the rain.
