The Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA) informed the Bicycle Coalition that they received higher than expected bids on the construction of the walkway’s bike ramp.
Because the bids came out higher than the money set aside to build it, the Authority needs to change the scope of the project and revise the budget to make the project feasible.
Most of the funding will come from the DRPA Capital Program, however the Authority received two grants, William Penn Regional Trails Funds via DVRPC ($400,000) and Federal Transportation Alternatives Funding via NJDOT ($800,000).
DRPA CEO John Hanson emphasized that the DRPA is still committed to building the ramp, and it is still possible that construction can begin sometime in 2017.
Agh. Hope they can get it together soon!
