On November 9th, six BCYC riders—Yania, Joshua, and Ethan from WB Saul High School, along with Mamady, Daamir, and Justin from our All Stars program, teamed up with Coaches Chris M. and Keanu for a fantastic day of mountain biking. The season finale of the PICL (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League) regional events at Fair Hill State Grounds in Maryland was an adventure to remember!
This was our third PICL/NICA event of the season, and it easily became our favorite. Instead of racing, we chose the adventure route to focus on having fun, sticking together, and exploring the trails at our own pace.
Fair Hill had an incredible energy that day, feeling more like a mountain biking festival than a typical competition. There were obstacle courses to test your skills, demo stations from sponsors like SRAM, complete with a trailer that had an observation deck, and plenty of opportunities to meet and connect with fellow riders!
We arrived early at 9 AM, even with some detours caused by Philly’s Rocky Run event. The plan was simple: ride one loop, enjoy the festival, and head home by 1 PM. But as soon as we hit the trails, we knew one loop wouldn’t be enough. The riders loved it so much that we ended up doing three loops, with plenty of breaks in between to explore the festival and soak in the amazing atmosphere. By the time we wrapped up, it was 5 PM!
This event had everything we love about mountain biking—great trails, quality time with the team, and an enthusiastic community. It was the perfect way to end the season on a high note.
Looking ahead, we’re already excited for 2025! With PICL/NICA as a key partner, we’re eager for more opportunities to ride, grow, and enjoy the adventure. Stay tuned for what’s next—we can’t wait!
