The Bartram’s Garden Bike Hub was closed throughout much of July and August due to the recent toxic chemicals identified near the trail. There has since been confirmation that significant levels of the toxic chemical Chromium 6 have not affected the Bike Hub and we have safely re-opened.
However, a section of the trail impacted by the spill remains closed for the time being. Check out this map to see where the trail is closed. There is still plenty of bike trail to explore in the Southwest portion of the garden!
The Bartram’s Garden Bike Hub will be open every Saturday now through the end of October (weather permitting, check the Bartram’s Garden Instagram for any last minute changes due to inclement weather) including the following special events:
- Indigenous People’s Day, celebrated at Bartram’s Garden on Sunday, October 13th, 11-5
- Harvest Fest, Sunday, October 20th, 12-3
- Stay tuned for Black Girl Joy Rides on Saturday, September 7th and October 13th.

Ever wanted to put your bike on a bike rack on the front of a SEPTA bus but were too intimidated or didn’t know how? At the Bartram’ Garden Bike Hub we have a sample bike rack, given to us by SEPTA, that you can use to practice with step by step instructions and this video.
It has been a busy year at the Bartram’s Bike Hub.
Check out some of the recent happenings:
- Since the Bike Hub opened in May, 246 people have attended a class or ride or participated in our free bike rentals.
- In early August we hosted over 20 youth from the 12th and Cambria Rec Center for a ride through the garden!
- We took the bike hub next door to the Bartram Village Block Party in July.
