In 2023, several gaps were completed and celebrated throughout the Greater Philadelphia area that now bring new connections to communities within the growing network of the Circuit Trails. Thanks to your ongoing support and advocacy for the trails, these key connections have paved the way for the Circuit Trails that are expected to be completed in 2024.
The newest trail segments include the following (each segment is highlighted in red on the map images shown below):
- Delaware River Trail: K&T Phase 2 between Lardners Point Park and the Tacony Boat Launch (Philadelphia) – 0.6 miles
- East Coast Greenway: US 13 buffered bike lanes PA-DE Border (Marcus Hook, Delaware County) – 0.3 miles
- Naylor’s Run Trail: Chapman Park to near Marshall Road (Upper Darby, Delaware County) – 0.6 miles
- Delaware River Heritage Trail: 5th Street Trail (Florence Twp., Burlington County) – 0.7 miles
- Merchantville Trail: Cove Rd to Bethel Ave (Merchantville, Camden County) – 0.25 miles
Another 78 miles of trails are in progress and right now several projects are under construction including the following:
- Cobbs Creek Trail in Eastwick between 80th and 78th St (0.8 miles)
- Fox Chase Trail In Philadelphia and Rockledge between the Fox Chase Train Station and Rockledge Park (0.6 miles)
- Newtown Square Branch – Haverford Vernon Rd to Manoa Rd (0.4 miles)
- Delaware River Heritage Trail in Florence, NJ – Eyre St to Front St. and Walnut to Spruce (0.4 miles)
- Burlington Camden Trail in Pennsauken, NJ – Cove Rd to Bethel Ave (0.3 miles)
- The Trestle Trail – Connecting the Schuylkill River Trail in Spring City to the Royersford Waterfront (0.3 miles)*
*Not a designated Circuit Trail but it is a direct connection.
The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia is a founding member of the Circuit Trails Coalition and leads the movement to make every bicycle ride safe, to empower youth and adults to ride, and to foster a ridership that reflects the diversity of the region. Right now the Bicycle Coalition is asking 700 folks to join or renew their support for another year to continue that advocacy and education work throughout the region. More info here.
