On Friday, May 19, 2023, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and Independence Blue Cross hosted a Bike To Work & Wherever Day celebration with an Energizer Station at the Penn Museum and three group rides:
- Council Member Jamie Gauthier and Deputy Managing Director of oTIS Michael Carroll co-led from Penn Museum;
- State Senator Nikil Saval and Council Member Mark Squilla co-led from 6th and Washington Ave; and
- State Representatives Donna Bullock and Malcolm Kenyatta co-led from Broad and Oxford St.
Around 100 Philadelphians joined the rides, which converged at Dilworth Plaza for a press conference where the ride leaders, elected officials, Sarah Clark Stuart (Bicycle Coalition) and Steve Tremblay (Independence Blue Cross) emphasized the importance of equitable access and safe infrastructure to support the City’s robust cycling population.
