Malaku Mekonnen

Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling Program Manager

Malaku comes from a background of serving the community for over 15 years through the mental health field, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies and a Minor in Psychology from Rider University.

During that time Malaku worked with adults, children, teens and adolescents. He held multiple roles as a teacher, counselor, mentor and community developer.

Since rediscovering cycling, its peace, fulfillment and joy, Malaku has continued with giving back to the community and gone on to help develop the cycling team Team Cycling Royalty to help promote a healthy lifestyle and spread unity and love within the Black community. In accepting the role of new BCYC Program Manager, he hopes to pay it forward by helping the new young stars of today touch the sky.
