Larry Downey
Membership Manager
Bicycle Coalition Staff » Larry
Larry is a native Philly boy who grew up on two wheels and spent his youth exploring the Delaware River waterfront by bike from South Street to Graffiti Pier.
His love for cycling was inspired by his dad, an everyday commuter cyclist, who rode from their home in Fishtown to the Navy Yard where he worked as a machinist.
Professionally, Larry has spent the last 7 years helping nonprofits connect with communities and broaden their membership support—from Lowcountry Local First in Charleston, SC to the Sustainable Business Network here in Philly. He has admired the work of the Bicycle Coalition for a long time, and supported that work as a member himself before becoming the Membership Manager. He’s stoked to be forwarding the Bicycle Coalition’s mission and engaging more folks as members.
Larry currently lives in Fairmount with his wife Jaime and their young son Jack. When he has some free time he often rides Belmont and Forbidden with his brother or tries to squeeze in building window boxes as a side hustle.
