Amanda is a daily bicycle commuter in Philadelphia where she has lived with a rotating group of friends for the last nine years.
She attended the University of Pennsylvania and earned a BA in Health and Societies and English, and her Master’s in Urban Studies with a focus in oral history. Outside of school she’s worked with nonprofits focused on youth development, food justice and urban agriculture.
Her Western PA rural roots mixed with her semi-adult life in Philadelphia have allowed her to understand the wide variety of things that cycling can mean to different communities across very different geographical spaces. She’s excited to be putting her energy toward the Bicycle Coalition’s work of expanding the cycling community in Philadelphia so that an activity as fun, freeing, and environmentally just as riding a bike can be accessible to everyone.
