The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia is excited to announce that Larry Shifflet, Deputy Secretary of PennDOT and Kristin Del Rossi, Commissioner of the Philadelphia Streets Department, will host the Keynote Conversation at the 2024 Vision Zero PHL Conference catered luncheon. Becky Bradley, Executive Director at Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, has been invited to moderate the conversation.
Larry Shifflet was named to serve as the Executive Deputy Secretary in December 2023, building on his 31+ year career with PennDOT.
Since July 2019, he has been serving as the Deputy Secretary for Planning. In this role he was responsible for collaborating with communities and transportation stakeholders to plan transportation projects that balance community needs with regional and statewide travel demand and available funding resources.
Kristin Del Rossi was appointed Streets Commissioner in January 2024 after serving as Transportation Operations Director for Streets since 2020. She helped lead the direction and administration of all Department transportation operations activities and functions.
As Streets Commissioner, Del Rossi directs and supervises core duties such as pothole repairs, roadway improvements and repairs, fixing and repairs thousands of broken street lights, and managing $225 Million in transportation infrastructure projects funded by the Biden-Harris administration.
The 2024 Vision Zero PHL Conference returns to an in-person format on Friday, March 22nd, at Temple University’s Student Center South. This year’s focus, “Vision Zero at a Crossroads”, seeks to address how the existing program can be scaled up to meet the serious challenges of an increase in pedestrian and bicyclist fatalities seen in 2023.
Several opportunities will be provided for attendees to connect and learn more about Vision Zero-related studies in planning, design, and community development from selected participants in the Vision Zero PHL postering competition.
