The Annual Gala & Awards Dinner celebrates Greater Philadelphia’s agents of change in the bicycling community, from youth athletes and their supporters to community organizers and advocates. The Connect the Circuit and I Bike PHL awards recognize individuals whose work moves the needle to make biking safe & fun for everyone both inside and outside of the city limits.
This year, Camden County Commissioner Jeffrey L. Nash will accept the Connect the Circuit Award for their commitment to further develop the LINK Trail, a key component of the regional Circuit Trails network. Last year, Camden County received a $19M grant from the US DOT’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant program to construct three critical segments of the LINK that are in Camden and Pennsauken Township that will consist of nearly 4 new miles of new shared-use trails and multiple bridge structures to provide seamless, continuous, and safe access for cyclists and pedestrians to reach their destination.
When completed, the LINK Trail will connect dozens of communities from the Ben Franklin Bridge in Camden County to the Pine Barrens in Winslow Township in Gloucester County. This massive award is a testament to the commitment of the county and its Board of Commissioners to reconnect Camden’s neighborhoods that have been separated by highways who will soon be able to safely access their growing active transportation networks and the Circuit Trails.
Founded in 2019 with 4 eager riders from northwest Philadelphia, Kings Rule Together & Queens Rule Together Cycling Club is now a community of hundreds of riders united around the transformative power of cycling. Their mission — to promote a fun, healthy lifestyle while being fully committed to bringing diversity to the sport — has gathered cyclists of every age and ability, from casual riders to racers, and events like the Royal Weekend draw cycling enthusiasts from across the country to Philly for food, community, and — yes — rides. Most recently, KRT/QRT partnered with Philly Bike Ride, SOAR Foundation Racing, and Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling to present a beginner-friendly group ride through Fairmount Park and scenic routes in Philadelphia. The Bicycle Coalition is honored to present them with the I Bike PHL Award.
