We’re getting in the spirit of things! Not only is the Bicycle Coalition celebrating its 50th year, but the Holiday Lights ride is celebrating its 10th anniversary! It’s time to dust off your bike decorations, bundle up and ride with us on our Annual Holiday Lights Ride to see the best of South Philly’s outdoor holiday decorations. This year, we’ve teamed up with Wednesday Night Rides ride leaders to organize the event.
“What’s so special about the Holidays Lights Ride — along with the dazzling displays, of course — is the amazing feeling of moving through the city streets with hundreds of fellow Philadelphians, silently and under our own power. We get a taste of that freedom on the biweekly Wednesday Night Rides, but I think the much grander scale of the Holidays Lights Ride helps reveal what our city can be like when we open the streets to people,” said Stefan Zajic one of the founders of Wednesday Night Rides.
Wednesday Night Rides hosts social rides every two weeks, exploring different parts of the Philadelphia metro area. WNR leadership is made up of four co-organizers: Stefan Zajic, Annie O’Brien, Peter Kim, and Kate Mundie.
This ride is family-friendly and free to attend but an RSVP is required so we can plan our rollout & ride buddies accordingly!
We will be meeting at the ACME parking lot at 1400 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19147 starting at 6:30pm. We will roll out at 7pm and check out South Philly’s most elaborate and bike accessible holiday lights. The ride will wrap up back at the ACME parking lot around 9pm.
