Sunday, November 15 was World Day of Remembrance for Victims of Traffic Violence. World Day of Remembrance looked different this year, as it was marked around the globe amidst a pandemic, but many organizations, including Families for Safe Streets Greater Philadelphia, held events to talk about the changes that are happening to make roads safer, and the unprecedented rise in traffic fatalities throughout 2020.
The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia hosted a World Day of Remembrance panel on our Facebook page, which featured Latanya Byrd and Laura Fredricks of Families for Safe Streets Greater Philadelphia, Jason Duckworth of the Delaware Valley Smart Growth Alliance and FSSGP, and Lily Reynolds of Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability, who just recently released their 2020 Vision Zero Action Plan.

Families for Safe Streets is an international organization dedicated to advocating on behalf of traffic victims, most of whom can no longer advocate for themselves. FSS is made up of mostly families of traffic victims who are dedicated to ending traffic violence and that no more families have to go through what they’ve gone through.
