A different way to Cape May. Now that Middle Township and Dennis Township have extended the Cape May County Bike Path you now have a mostly traffic-free option to bike across the County away from the crowds.

The ride starts at Sea Isle City. Heading west on Sea Isle Blvd you will cross the Garden State Parkway turn left at the Wawa onto Route 9 in Ocean View. In a half mile turn right onto Main St and follow for one mile. The trailhead is next to the South Seaville Fire Station with a bench and limited parking. From here it is 17 miles of paved pathway all the way down to Cold Spring Village. At the end of the trail cross US 9 and proceed down Seashore Rd to Cape May City.

One nice feature of the trail is the access to campgrounds along the route. During the summer they are quite pricey and require reservations but still less expensive than any available room on the beach. There are great attractions along the way including the Cape May County Park and Zoo. The zoo is free and is one of the best in the state. Other attractions along or near the route include Historic Cold Spring Village and Hawk Haven Winery. The NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum is a mile west of the trail.

Public Transportation Info for Daytrippers

Download the NJ TRANSIT MyTix for mobile tickets and the transit mobile app for real-time location-based bus information.

Getting to Sea Isle City:
You will want to take the 315 Bus departing from 30th St Station. The morning bus departs 30th St and JFK Blvd at 9:11 and arrives in Sea Isle at 11:27. Fare is $19 on the MyTix mobile app. Luggage space is limited but this is not a high-traffic bus route so you should be OK. Bikes go underneath in the luggage bay.

Returning from Cape May Bus Terminal:  Routes 313, 315, and the 316 Express offer 12 buses a day to Philadelphia ($24.75). The last departure is at 11:18 PM. The 315 bus is the only one that will get you directly back to Sea Isle City ($4,25). Alternatively, Route 552 runs hourly to Atlantic City where you can connect to the AC Rail Line or the Route 551 Bus to Philadelphia. The last departure for the 552 is 1:25 AM. From  AC to Philly Route 551 runs 24 hours a day.

Hot Tip: If you start or end your trip at the Walter Rand Transportation Center/PATCO Broadway Station in Camden the fare is 55% less (thanks to a very complicated fare zone policy).
