The Bicycle Coalition recently held the second Northwest Schuylkill River Trails Summit at the Venice Island Performing Arts & Recreation Center in Manayunk with members of the Circuit Trails Coalition, local partners, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission, Lower Merion Township, Philadelphia’s Department of Streets, and the Philadelphia City Planning Commission to share the latest accomplishments on the Circuit Trails in Northwest Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township in Montgomery County. For the latest developments on the Circuit Trails within this area, you may review the presentation from the summit here and the map below for the status of projects in close proximity to the Schuylkill River.
Following the information sharing on the latest accomplishments over the past year, the summit held a number of breakout sessions that focused on how the trails impact the economic development of Laurel Hill and The Penn Group, trail maintenance, and programming on trails. The Bicycle Coalition extends its thanks to Clean Air Council, Fairmount Park Conservancy, Friends of the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, Friends of the Wissahickon, Laurel Hill, Manayunk Development Corporation, Roxborough/Manayunk Conservancy, Schuylkill Banks, Schuylkill River Greenways, and The Penn Group for their leadership in facilitating robust and engaging dialogue with attendees who joined the event to learn more about the inner-working components that advance the development of the trails, activate the network with the community and ensure they are maintained regularly.
If you missed the summit and have interest in learning more about how to be involved in the topics covered in the breakout sessions shared above, please contact the Coalition’s Regional Organizer, Patrick Monahan at patrick@bicyclecoalition.org for more information.
Special thanks to City Ave District, The Penn Group, and Manayunk Development Corporation for sponsoring the event and thanks to all who attended the summit. Lastly, the Bicycle Coalition would like to thank Northwest Night Rides for leading a guided biking tour after the event!
