The Lil’ Philly Safety Village opened in 2020 and is the first of its kind in Philadelphia, offering kids an opportunity to learn about bike safety and riding in a safe environment in Hunting Park.
From April-October of 2023, over 100 kids participated in activities led by the Bicycle Coalition Play Ambassadors. The Play Ambassador programming was made possible through a partnership with Fab Youth Philly, Kaboom! And support by PECO.

Through programming, The Bicycle Coalition distributed 98 helmets and 112 bike lights. Kids took pride in personalizing their helmets with stickers as they learned the importance of wearing a helmet each time they ride.
A major highlight of the year was hosting the Bike Safety & Community Resource Fair in October when 28 kids and families attended, riding to great music and receiving additional resources including books, toys and more.
