In honor of our current Member Drive, we’re highlighting some of the amazing community members that we’re proud to count as Bicycle Coalition members. We hope you’ll see yourself in their stories, and learn some great local biking tips from them!

Today we’re excited to shout-out Ryan Sullivan, who first joined as a member in 2008.

Name: Ryan J. Sullivan

Where do you bike?
Commute from South to West Philly, and train in the hills, from Media to Ambler!

What’s your favorite thing about biking in our region?
The amazing cycling community. The clubs and teams, Bicycle Club of Philadelphia (BCP) and QCW in particular, and the advocacy of groups like the Bicycle Coalition, Circuit Trails, and DCNR [Department of Conservation and Natural Resources], keep us all engaged and progressing. The diversity of people and cycling styles means there’s never a boring ride.

What’s your favorite local route?
The hills in and around Gladwyne – all of them, I won’t play favorites!

Name your favorite bike accessory.
My helmet.

What’s your favorite on-bike or post-bike snack?
Larabar Lemon Bars. They taste like cake. I could eat a whole box.

Why did you join the Bicycle Coalition?
It’s important that a six-year-old feel the same confidence biking as I do. The only way we get there is with advocacy and infrastructure. I love cycling and I want others to love it too, so I’m here to help.
