The 2022 Explore the Circuit ride series brought our members to newly opened Circuit Trails in seven of the nine counties that make up the Greater Philadelphia area. We’d like to a take a moment to look back and share what we’ve captured along the way. We’ll also share a sneak peek at what we’ve got planned for our 2023 Explore the Circuit ride series.

We kicked-off the 2022 Circuit ride series on Celebrate Trails Day in April with a ride that highlighted the Cramer Hill Waterfront Park in Camden County. Formerly the Harrison Avenue Landfill, the recently opened park offers views of the Delaware and Cooper Rivers. The 62-acre park brings new connections to the Camden Greenways, East Coast Greenway and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. We partnered with our friends at Rails-To-Trails Conservancy at the Merchantville Trail afterward with local residents and businesses who love the trails.

On Earth Day, Chester County celebrated their official opening of the Schuylkill River Trail from Parker Ford to the Route 422 Bridge that will eventually connect into Montgomery County. Now that this segment is officially opened, trail users can travel over 30 miles from Philadelphia to Pottstown in Montgomery County!

We wrapped up the spring season with a ride in Burlington County along the Rancocas Creek Greenway Trail. The trail connects Amico Island in Delran to Pennington Park in Delanco linking two of the county’s most popular parks. The Rancocas Creek Greenway links up with the Delaware River Heritage Trail which will eventually connect Trenton to Camden along the waterfront. The trail also makes up a portion of the East Coast Greenway that will make the connection from Maine to the Florida Keys!

In the fall, we returned with a ride along the beautiful Chester Creek Trail in Delaware County. Following the ride we hiked to Linvilla Orchards to celebrate the season with apple picking and of course a purchase of a few apple cider donuts.

In Montgomery and Bucks Counties, we celebrated the opening of the Newtown Rail Trail. The new segment is a 12-foot-wide multi-use trail that connects Tamanend Park in Upper Southampton Township to the popular Pennypack Trail in Montgomery County. Trail users can now enjoy 18 continuous miles from Bristol Rd in Bucks County to the Delaware River in Philadelphia. Bucks County intends to continue working on building the trail through Northampton Township and Newtown Borough.  Earlier this year, they received a federal grant to build the next phase to the Churchville Nature Center.

Wrapping up the season, we rode along the Delaware River Trail in Philadelphia where we were joined by Chris Dougherty with the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation who gave an overview of the project and joined us along the way.
