A new 12-acre park is being planned and designed on top of a cap that will be built over I-95 between Chestnut and Walnut Streets. It will connect Center City Philadelphia to the Delaware River waterfront. Funded by the Federal Highway Administration, PennDOT, the City of Philadelphia and the William Penn Foundation, this new park will be a feat in engineering and design and totally transform Penn’s Landing.
How will the park accommodate bicyclists? How will trails or paths connect to the curb-separated, bi-directional asphalt bicycle path and separate pedestrian sidewalk that will become part of the Circuit’s Delaware River Trail being built between Washington Avenue and Spring Garden Street (expected to open in 2021)? Make your voice heard is about how bicyclists should be fully accommodated in this new park during this planning phase.
