Daylight Savings Time is over, and that means it’s especially important to have lights on your bike. But not everyone does, so once a year, the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia and our partners put together a bike light giveaway, where we hand out bike lights to those who need them.
This year, we’re going to be set up at two locations in South Philadelphia:
- 4th and Snyder
- 21st and Christian
We’ll be out there beginning at 4:30pm, until we’re completely out of lights.
This year’s bike light giveaway is presented by Stuart Leon Bicycle Law, the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia, and Councilman Mark Squilla.
Bike light giveaways are meant for people who do not have lights, and/or cannot afford them. Being seen while biking at night is essential, especially as the days grow shorter and more people are riding at night. PA law requires a front light and a rear reflector or light when riding before dawn or after dusk. Bicycle Coalition members can also purchase bike lights at one of our 20+ partner shops for a discount. Patronize your favorite shop, or look at our member discount page to find a shop that offers discounted accessories!
