BIKE MONTH 2021: remixed with a little bit of everything

BIKE MONTH

from virtual to hybrid to (small) in-person events, in Philly and around the region.

We’re keeping what was good about last year’s first virtual Bike Month (the flexibility! the increased access and lower barriers to entry for folks through digital events!) and adding back in some favorites from the before times (Bike to Work and Wherever Day!)

All Bike Month events & activities are free and open to everyone. Read on for all the details, and make sure you’re subscribed to our city and/or regional newsletters for the latest event updates, bonus giveaways and other fun stuff throughout the month.

BIKE MONTH STAR CHART: We wanna see how many days on the bike we can log together as a whole community. Add your name to the Bike Month Star Chart and start racking up the stars — any and all short / long / indoor / outdoor / slow / fast bike rides count! Folks who add a star to the chart every day in May will be entered to win a 1-year (new or renewed) membership to the Bicycle Coalition, plus our 2021 t-shirt.

BIKE WHEREVER WEEK SCAVENGER HUNT: Solve clues, ride ur bike, explore Philly parks, public art and local businesses, then get entered to win prizes from M&M Two Wheelers, Cadence Cycling, and Kayuh Bicycles — how’s that for a value prop?! Register solo or as a team of up to 6, the adventure starts bright and early on May 16.

RIDE OF SILENCE: This ride honors riders killed or injured by motorists, and raises awareness of the need to share the road with vulnerable road users. Meet us at the north side of City Hall (Broad & JFK) on Wednesday, May 19 for 2021’s ride. Please wear a mask. This event is rain or shine!

BIKE TO WORK & WHEREVER DAY: It’s back baby! Come see us on Friday, May 21 at our (masked and socially distanced) Energizer Station for snacks, coffee and giveaways (including a surprise from Weckerly’s Ice Cream!) We’ll be at the Schuylkill Banks Pergola from 7-9am.

REGIONAL BIKE MONTH: Thanks to our superb County Affiliates, we’ve got plenty of ways to celebrate Bike Month around the region too. Bike Burlington County and Bike Gloucester County will be hosting small Sunday group rides, while Bike Bucks, Delco, Mercer, Camden, Chester and Montco put together great routes for whenever-you-want rides.
