BIKE MONTH 2020 will look different than ever before

BIKE MONTH

but we’re committed to making it a time to build and celebrate our community in new ways.

We have free virtual programming all month long that is meant to be valuable to all types of bike riders. Read on for more details about the activities, and make sure you’re subscribed to our email list to get once-weekly updates with the events schedule and more.

VIRTUAL EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

RIDE OF THE WEEK: Every Monday morning we’ll be dropping a new Ride of the Week map straight to your inboxes (subscribe here). These routes will then live in our RideWithGPS Route Library, which members can access in full at any time.

TUNE UP TUESDAYBCYC Program Coordinator Kieran Campbell will be continuing our super popular Tune Up Tuesdays series every Tuesday at noon on Facebook Live. Don’t have social media or can’t make that time? We’ll be posting the videos afterwards on our blog (where you can also catch up on Episode 1 and Episode 2).

BIKE TALK WEDNESDAY: This idea came from the results of our Essential Workers survey, where members and supporters told us that they’re interested in regular updates on our work and the work of others in the region involved in transportation efforts. Policy Director Randy LoBasso will host half hour episodes of Bike Talk every other Wednesday at noon on Facebook Live.

FOLX N SPOKES COFFEE CLUBHang out (virtually, of course) with the local community of cyclists of color, women, trans, and nonbinary cyclists, disabled cyclists, immigrant cyclists, LGBTQIA cyclists, and cyclists of diverse sizes! Inexperienced cyclists, not-yet-bikers, and avid cyclists all welcome. Get to know your fellow bike riders, and get support and encouragement related to cycling. RSVP here for the Zoom meetup link.

URBAN RIDING BASICS & FIX A FLAT CLASSES: Community Engagement Manager Brenda Hernandez Torres will be teaching both English and Spanish versions of URB classes via Zoom, and Spanish-language Fix-A-Flat classes on Facebook Live. Head to our Events page to RSVP for all URB classes.

VIRTUAL BIKE MONTH TOWN HALL: On May 15th, join Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Sarah Clark Stuart and Policy Director Randy LoBasso for an update on cycling in the Philadelphia region. RSVP here for the Zoom link.

PACK UP FRIDAYS: Join illustrious experts in Biking with Stuff — pizza! your CSA box! camping gear! dogs! — on Instagram Live as they teach us how to turn our bikes into haul-anything-we-want-machines.

PHOTO-A-DAY CONTEST: since we can’t actually ride together, we want to make some media that reminds of us of our togetherness, and for that we need your help. Post your bike pics on social media and tag us, or email them straight to amanda@bicyclecoalition.org. We’ll be compiling all submissions into something lovely to share at the end of the month. Every day you submit a photo gets you 1 entry to win our Bike Month prize pack (check it out to your left).
