Bike Delaware County, the organization within the Bicycle Coalition of Great Philadelphia that focuses exclusively on bicycling developments in Delaware County, will be holding their winter general membership meeting tomorrow night.
John Boyle from the Bicycle Coalition, and Rich Kerr from the Friends of Haverford Trails will be discussing Mapping Low Stress Streets for Safe Cycling. John will discuss identification and mapping of low stress streets (and high stress points) on Google Maps for the community. Rich will cover specific examples, including his work identifying and mapping “bike-friendly” roads in Delaware County using Google Earth, overlays to Google Maps and the Google Maps “Bicycling data layer.”
Later this year, Bike Delaware County and the BCGP will be hosting a mapathon where members can bring their laptops in to help us map the Low Stress Bike Network (and gaps) in the County.
Please plan on attending if you would like to learn more about some exciting developments affecting cycling in Delaware County and meet others who are concerned with improving bicycling infrastructure in the County.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 24th at the Furness Public Library, 100 North Providence Road in Wallingford, from 7:15 to 8:45 pm.
Let us know if we can help with cycling safety mapping!
