This year I’ve been lucky enough to attend the National Bike Summit for the first time, which gave me the chance to get a tourists’ view of my hometown of DC, and do stuff like take a bike tour to NPR. When I signed up for this, I thought it was just a tour of a cool place that was a major part of my childhood. Then I saw the bike room…..
Oh. My. Goodness. INDOOR Racks for 80 bikes. Showers (with towel service!!!). Lockers. Tools. Pumps. Dedicated street entrance. The facility really blew me away. What was most surprising though was how surprised I was: why can’t we have nice things like this in the Philly area? Is there a single business in our region that has these amenities?
As an added bonus, I got to see the famous Tiny Desk, home to some of my favorite musical sets of all time. Nice start to a conference day, wouldn’t you say?
