2018 SUBURBAN ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION FORUM
How do you feel about mobility in your suburban county? Have you ever imagined better access to active transportation options near your house using Circuit Trails or bike lanes? You’re going to have a chance to talk to advocates and officials about it this weekend. The Suburban Active Transportation Forum 2018 is scheduled for Saturday, November 17th, 10am – 3:45pm at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit (MCIU) in Norristown, PA.

The event, sponsored by Lime and AARP PA, will be an opportunity for Pennsylvania advocates to get in the same room with officials from Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties, as well as from PennDOT.

“Lime is thrilled to partner with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia on the Suburban Active Transportation Forum, and to show residents safe, environmentally friendly transportation options,” said Shari Shapiro of Lime. “We hope to bring more mobility choices to the Greater Philadelphia area.”

Speakers include Dr. Val Arkoosh, Chair of the Montgomery County Commissioners, Roy Gothie, Pennsylvania’s Department of Transportation Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator, planning staff from Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware counties and others.

“It is critical that we work with local stakeholders to make our communities more livable for all ages,” states Yocasta Lora, AARP Pennsylvania Associate State Director for Outreach. “We want to improve accessible transportation options for all road users, including cyclists and pedestrians, so they can travel safely and stay connected in their communities.”

Panel discussions will include topics such as e-Bikes in the Suburbs, Townships leading the way, and the Circuit Trail network’s goal of reaching 500 miles by 2025.
