This past weekend, the Bicycle Coalition Youth Cycling (BCYC) team hosted their inaugural Roll Wit It: Philly Gran Fondo, an exciting event that brought together BCYC youth athletes and riders of all skill levels and backgrounds. The weather was perfect as participants had the choice of three scenic routes, ranging from 16 to 74 miles through the Philadelphia area, all starting and finishing at the Sedgley Porter House, which serves as the home base for the BCYC program.
Each route was playfully named after Philadelphia’s famous cheesesteaks, The Whiz, The Whiz Wit, and The Works, offering different levels of challenge just like the variety of cheesesteak styles. After crossing the finish line, participants were greeted with delicious food and refreshments from Tricycle Cafe, music, and games to celebrate the day’s achievements.
We want to give a special shout out to our three BCYC All Stars who completed 74 miles for their longest rides ever on the day! We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to make this day special and to our growing community of supporters for their continued encouragement!
As we kick off our BCYC Fall season this week, we look forward to finishing out this 2024 cycling seasons on a high note, as our youth continue to learn valuable road safety skills and we officially launch our BCYC MTB programming in conjunction with PICL! Lastly, we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate our BCYC Athlete of the Year next week at our Annual Awards Gala!
