Good news, everyone. The Schuylkill Banks Trail at Chestnut Street, which had been closed since February 2021, is reopening on Friday, July 2nd.
The trail under the Chestnut Street Bridge received its first layer of asphalt this morning! The next layer goes down Wednesday. @PennDOTNews expects the trail to reopen on Friday! #SchuylkillRiverTrail #SchuylkillBanks #Philadelphia pic.twitter.com/m7D0XIlbbi

The Schuylkill River Trail closed earlier this year in order to repair a section of a compromised retaining wall in the vicinity of the Chestnut Street Bridge.
Over the last four months, the section of the trail at Chestnut Street had been closed, and a detour set up for cyclists and pedestrians to get around, via 22nd and 23rd Streets.
But that’s over, come Friday. Thanks to Schuylkill River Development Corporation and PennDOT for getting this done, and being transparent about the whole process. See you all on the trail!
