The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia (BCGP) will be joining Wawa’s Welcome America event on Monday, June 28th from 2:30 pm – 3:30pm at Dilworth Plaza at the Philadelphia City Hall courtyard. We will be presenting an interactive demonstration about the benefits of bicycling, bicycle safety, and offering guests an opportunity to participate in our Bicycle Rodeo obstacle course. We encourage the entire bicycle community to join us for a fun-packed hour. The event is sponsored by PECO.
Wawa Welcome America is a multi-day festival celebrating America’s birthday in America’s birthplace. For the first time ever, enjoy 16 days of safe, responsible, in-person programming to commemorate Fourth of July in Philadelphia.
The one-hour presentation will start with a talk about the benefits of bicycling and segue to an interactive activity about bicycle hand-signaling. The second portion will allow participants to test their bicycling skills by riding through the BCGP’s Bicycle Rodeo course.
A Bicycle Rodeo is a bicycle skills event that provides an opportunity for bicyclists to practice and develop skills that will help them to become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes. There will be bicycles and helmets provided by the BCGP, mainly for children, but if you bring your own bicycle, you can join the rodeo. This will be a fun-packed hour of learning bicycle knowledge and testing your bicycle skills.
