Yesterday, the Governor delayed his closure order until Monday. So for the weekend, bike shops can legitimately open if they want to. The Governor also release a revised list of businesses, but bike shops are not explicitly listed.
On Thursday, we sent a request to the Governor asking for a clarification as to what category bike shops fall under, arguing that they should be considered one of the businesses that are exempt from the order
- Repair and Maintenance
- Support activities for road transportation
- Other general merchandise stores
The Governor’s office did not provide a clarification, but did recommend that any business can ask for an exemption. The Waiver/Exemption Form for Non-Life Sustaining Businesses is linked on this page. We sent that link to our bike shop contacts.
Stay tuned for any updates or new information. In the meantime, stay safe and keep your distance!
