On Tuesday, October 6, our partner organization Bike Delaware County will host a Delaware County Council Candidates Forum focusing on bicycling and multi-use trails in Delaware County. Members of both parties will be at the forum, which will take place at the Furness Public Library, 100 North Providence Road in Wallingford, from 7:15pm to 8:45pm, to discuss issues near and dear to cyclists and pedestrians in Delaware County.
Here’s a message from Chuck Cruit, chair of Bike Delaware County:
The purpose of the Candidates Forum is to hear from County Council candidates from both parties regarding their views on bicycling and multi-use trails in Delaware County.
At our Spring meeting we were treated to an excellent presentation by Tom Shaffer and Karen Holm from the County Planning Department on the County’s new Open Space, Recreation & Greenways Plan. That presentation prompted much discussion within BDC and led to our sending a letter to the Delaware County Council this summer.
With the County Council elections to be held in November, our membership would be very interested in hearing your views on the general topic of bicycling and multi-use trails in the County, as well as your views on the specific recommendations we made for the County to assume a leadership role in development and maintenance of the County Trail Network.
The meeting will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Furness Public Library, 100 North Providence Road in Wallingford from 7:15 to 8:45 pm. This is an excellent opportunity to show your support for cycling and multi-se trails and to hear what the candidates have to say on this important issue. We hope to see you there!
Chuck Cruit, Chair
Bike Delaware County
P.S. It’s important that Delaware Valley politicians know how important bicycling is to Pennsylvanians from all walks of life. We really hope you can make it out. If you have any questions, send an email to Chuckcruit@yahoo.com.
