We learned through a Reddit post and direct communication with the Accident Investigation Division of the Philadelphia Police Department, that a 71 year old man riding a bicycle was killed yesterday in NE Philadelphia.

The bicyclist was northbound on Tabor Avenue crossing Cottman Avenue when he was hit by the vehicle driving West on Cottman Avenue. The bicyclist was a 71yr old male who lived right down the street on Tabor Road. The driver remained on location and stated to the Police that she didn’t see the bicyclist.  PPD’s Accident Investigation Division is checking for video, witnesses, etc.

This particular section of Cottman Avenue is not on the High Injury Network, although other blocks of Tabor and Cottman are.

We could not find a report on mainstream news.  When we receive more information about the bicyclist, we will update this post.

Pat White was the 6th to lose his life on Philadelphia’s streets.  We offer his family, friends and community our deepest condolences.
