Dr. Wilson (center) alongside Cadence Youth Cycling All-Stars
On Friday April 15th, Dr. James Wilson of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania joined Cadence Youth Cycling All-Stars at one of their weekly practices. The CYC All-Stars are composed of athletes from the seven site teams who have demonstrated a exemplary responsibility and leadership.
Before the practice started Dr. Willson spoke to the young athletes about how cycling helped him acquire strong discipline and goal-setting techniques that he continues to apply to his career.
Dr. Wilson began working in gene therapy during his tenure as a graduate student at the University of Michigan. He was eventually recruited by the University of Pennsylvania where he created the first and largest academic-based program in gene therapy.
Dr. Wilson is also the Director of Rare Disease Cycling who are instrumental in throwing the annual Million Dollar Bike Ride hosted by the Penn Medicine Orphan Disease Center.
The ride will be on May 7th this year with multiple routes.
