We are big fans of the Boardwalk!  The Circuit‘s  centerpiece is now ready for prime time! The Boardwalk is the first extension of the Schuylkill River Trail in ten years and connects the City’s South Street Bridge, which has the greatest percentage of bike/ped trips crossing the Schuylkill, to the region’s most popular trail.  It will also bring many more people closer to the Schuylkill River, one of the city’s greatest natural resource assets. Big kudos to the folks at Schuylkill Banks and the Streets Department for raising the funding, overseeing the project and making it possible.

Great cities build great pieces of infrastructure and Philadelphia should take great pride in this accomplishment.   And we take pride in playing a role in making it possible.  The TIGER grant that the Bicycle Coalition and Pennsylvania Environmental Council helped the City win in 2010 contributed $10 million toward making its construction possible. Good things come to those who are patient and persistent!  Don’t miss the Boardwalk’s ribbon cutting tomorrow (Thursday, October 2) at 11:30am and the Community Celebration on Sunday October 5th from 1-3pm.
