An ordinance to create a new protected bike lane along Island Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia will be introduced on February 14th. The lane will be put in between Enterprise and Penrose on Island Avenue, and is being introduced by Councilman Kenyatta Johnson.
The new protected bike lane will help improve access to the airport for those workers who commute via bicycle and, given the removal of a travel lane, will help calm traffic in this particular area.
This is great. There are a lot of people who ride bikes down there to commute or for exercise and the roads are ridiculously wide and fast with lots of exits from the highway.
