Mark your calendars this July, because the Philadelphia Flyers just announced their inaugural Philadelphia Flyers Charity Classic. Set for Sunday, July 16, the Flyers Charity Classic expands on their previous Flyers Charity 5K run, which the organization has been running for the past 5 years.

The Bicycle Coalition and Cadence Youth Cycling will be beneficiaries of the event, which features 4 different races: a 5K walk/run, a 10-mile family ride ride, as well as a 50K and 100K bike ride.

The Flyers teamed up with g4 Productions, which specializes in large-scale sporting events, to put together an exciting day with races that take participants on scenic routes throughout the city.

The 5K Walk/Run takes participants from the Wells Fargo Center through the scenic Navy Yard, and returning to Wells Fargo to cross the finish line.

The 10-mile bike ride begins also at the Wells Fargo Center, but takes cyclists of any age to Broad Street, up and around City Hall before taking on the Schuylkill River Trail to South Street.

50K Bike Ride – Cyclists will start their ride at the Wells Fargo Center continue north past City Hall and onto the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The ride continues to Fairmount Park toward the halfway point at West Mill Creek Park in Gladwyne. The ride returns to the city via Main Street in Manayunk, where it ends back at the Wells Fargo Center.

100K Bike Ride – Cyclists will pedal out of the Wells Fargo Center complex and hit Broad Street, taking the same route as the 50K ride to Gladwyne. The route then heads through Narberth, Ardmore, and out into Newtown Square to finally reach the turnaround point at Malvern, where cyclists will head back to the city through Paoli, and Wayne, passing Villanova.

Participants will also get some Flyers swag, including a Flyers goodie bag, race t-shirt, personalized bib number with chip timing, finisher’s medal, and post-race refreshments with their registration fee.
