Firehouse Bicycles was opened in 2001 at 701 S. 50th St. by a group of friends with a shared passion for bicycles. The bike messengers, welders, and artists who started the shop have carried that passion with them throughout the past 16 years.

Firehouse carries quality used and new bikes, and specializes in refurbishing old vintage bikes. The full service repair shop offers a $10 flat fix, discounts to Coalition members, and the latest equipment and gear including skateboards and kids’ gear.

Firehouse purchased their second shop, Wolf Cycles, in 2012 from the Miller Family. Before that, the shop had been run by the Wolff family since 1932, making it possibly one of the oldest bikes shops in Philadelphia. “I bought my first bike here,” is a commonly heard phrase at the shop, and Firehouse is proud to be picking up the torch on the historic Philadelphia bicycle landmark.

Wolf Cycles boasts itself as a classic Philadelphia bike shop that offers both new and used bikes.

Their shop in West Philly, located at 4311 Lancaster Ave, includes all the services of the first shop, along with a community acupuncture and yoga studio on the second floor.

Both shops can tackle any repair large or small, and Wolf Cycles was among the 2013 “Best Bike Shops in Philly” by Philadelphia Magazine.
